Gung Fu Man never walks alone! "No Man can be disarmed of my weapon, because Gung Fu is carried in a Man's Soul!" - Grandmaster Jion, over 1,500 years ago.
Before anyone can study Chi Tao Chuan Gung Fu they must be interviewed by a Master, before acceptance for study can be granted. Now, if accepted he or she is placed on Probationary Study for 3 months to 1 year. After they have passed their first Rank Test then they are accepted as a student on Probationary Status #2, which lasts between 1-3 years. After the student grades are passed, he or she must fight 28 students (14 on each side of him aligned in rows) to be admitted into the 3rd Inner Circle of the Temple. If they can pass through this array, they have up to midnight, from dawn, and can try over and over again, as long as he can stand up and defend himself. Then he recieves the first rank of Wu Chi Jen (Red Sash) 1st Instructor Level. He is trusted as a loyal, hardworking student, though he may be equivalent to a 2nd Degree Blackbelt in Karate! He must still spend 5-7 years in another type of probation, this is to prove to a particular Master that he is worthy of the Higher Arts or Internal Arts Training. Although, he mayu be trusted, hardworking, honest, he must learn, sacrifice, and appreciate much, in order make a Master feel like spending his valuable time, which is taken from the Master's own self-development and growth, in order to teach this person. One should realize that many of the old country masters refuse to teach in any capacity, regardless of who the person was! But a few could be delicately handles by their disciples to accept another "son" as you see Gung Fu is taught from Father to Son.
The International Green Dragon Society primarily teaches the Animal System known as Chi Tao Chuan Gung Fu. This system places great amount of emphasis on the 8 Animal Fighting Styles of Leopard, White Crane, Panther, Praying Mantis, Tiger, Black Cobra, Wild Boar, and Eagle. These are not the same as the Shaolin Gung Fu Buddhist System which teaches the student to imitate the animals. But Chi Tao is Taoist so with secret meditation techniques, the Spirit of the Actual Animal fills the Mind of the student so he becomes the animal itself, in thinking, action, strength, and spirit. Because this is highly dangerous, a person can never use this method of training for tournament competition.
